The American College of Radiology (ACR) has established Quality Control measures for MRI units throughout the United States. In addition, many States have now mandated that free-standing imaging centers have a qualified medical physicist review image quality on an ongoing basis. In keeping with these recent demands for quality imaging, the company has a strong medical physics program specifically designed to meet ACR and State requirements for this imaging modality.

The ACR program consists of initial testing of the MRI unit for the following:

[Bullet] SAR Monitor
[Bullet] Slice Positioning Accuracy
[Bullet] Image Uniformity
[Bullet] Spatial Linearity
[Bullet] Slice Thickness measurements
[Bullet] Gradient Strength
[Bullet] RF Shielding
[Bullet] Ghost Intensity
[Bullet] Signal Amplitude and S/N Ratio
[Bullet] Cryogen Boil-off Rate
[Bullet] Resonance Frequency
[Bullet] Transmitter Attenuation and Receiver Gain
[Bullet] Eddy Current Compensation

Then, we will perform a semiannual site review of the image quality obtained from the MRI technologists routine quality control. A written report based on these images will follow in keeping with many State requirements for medical physicists review of QC.
